Classical Torres guitarSince he performs on a Torres replica which is strung with gut strings, soloist-composer Alexander Makay holds a unique position within the classical guitar world. Moreover, he plays without fingernails.
His repertoire covers a wide range from Bach over Romanticism to postmodern 20th century work, in addition to his own transcriptions and compositions. Because of this specific playing method and his eclectic composing style, he can be considered a contemporary embodiment of 19th century guitar giant Francisco Tárrega.
