​Ratio versus Intuition
 
Intuition and rational thinking are often stated as opposite to each other.
Especially rationality has often somehow a negative connotation when it comes to describing the characteristics of a certain musician.
 
I think a musician can indeed lack emotional expression, but this is not necessarily due to over-rationality.
 
I think it is more interesting to look at them as complementary characteristics, balanced in a hierarchic relation.
 
Intuition is, I am convinced, the fundament of any art. But this does not mean that one should limit his or her rational development. Once you can trust your intuition and keep this as a basic state of mind where you can always return to yourself, you should not be afraid anymore to develop your consciousness and knowledge about music.  If only you keep to your mind that all positive thinking is subordinate and relative to the immensity of the Negative, surrounding it in cosmic eternity.
 
If you realize this hierarchic relation, ratio and emotion cannot exclude each other anymore.
